As your Twitter account grows and you gain more followers, it’s essential that Twitter security be a top priority. It would be irresponsible for anyone to consider its Twitter account bulletproof from online dangers – nothing is 100% safe, no matter what anyone will say to convince you otherwise.

My Twitter Account Has Been hacked

If you think you’ve been hacked and you’re unable to log in with your username and password, please take the following two steps:

  1. Request a password reset

Reset your password by requesting an email from the password reset form. Try entering both your username and email address, and be sure to check the reset email at the address associated with your Twitter account.

If you’re able to log in after the password reset, please check if your account has been compromised and re-secure your account.

  1. Contact Support if you still require assistance

If you still can’t log in, contact Twitter by submitting a Support requestPlease choose “Hacked account” from the list of options. Be sure to use the email address you associated with the hacked Twitter account; we’ll then send additional information and instructions to that email address. Include both your username and the date you last had access to your account.

Conclusion

Twitter can be handy and useful for business and personal communications.  That said, it’s a good idea to understand how Twitter works before revealing private or personal information or exposing yourself in ways you never intended.

  3. I am very careful never to sign in to a service using a current service. I went to one website and it really wanted me to use my Twitter account to login and that was a little warning to me so I left it. Whenever they make it hard to use another login I get suspicious. #AnythingGoes

    1. You’re right to be cautious. There are third-party apps that will ask you to sign in with Twitter. If it’s a reputable company like Hootsuite, I know that my account info wil lbe safe with them.
